How Do We Determine Our Fees?
Alright, let's get down to business. We know that none of our patients enjoy discussing fees. It makes for an uncomfortable conversation and can lead to embarrassment if the fees are not within a patient's budget. But it is important to sort out the costs involved before any dental work gets started, because the only thing worse than discussing fees is not discussing fees!
Each year, the Ontario Dental Association publishes their Suggested Fee Guide to help dental offices around the province determine how much they should charge for each procedure. And while the suggested fees are indeed suggestions (they are not imposed upon us), many clinics including Chapel Hill Dental price their services in accordance with the Fee Guide. No more, and no less. By doing so, you can be sure that when you visit our office you are receiving a fair & competitive price for all services rendered.
Before starting any work, your dentist will present to you a financial summary of the proposed treatment. If more than one option is available to you, you will absolutely be presented with each one so you can make an informed decision. Any recommendations we make regarding your treatment will be strictly based on what is best for you.
Do We Offer Direct Billing?
Our office offers direct billing in the sense that we will gladly prepare and submit your insurance claims on your behalf. That way there's nothing for you to do when you get home. We do however ask for full payment of your bill at the time of your visit. Your insurance will then reimburse you directly, typically within a few days.
Nowadays, with insurance companies offering direct deposit reimbursements, our patients are seeing their funds back in their bank accounts well before their credit cards become due for payment. And in the meantime, they've collected air miles or other credit card rewards just from swiping their cards at our office. Bonus!
What Are Our Accepted Methods of Payment?
In addition to all private insurances, Chapel Hill Dental accepts every major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and JCB) as well as cash and debit. Unfortunately we don't take personal cheques at this time.
Why We Can't Offer Discounts
We are sometimes asked if we give discounts to patients who have no insurance. Unfortunately we can't do that. By law we're not permitted to have different tiers of pricing for patients with, and without, insurance. And in any case we'd rather keep a level playing field for everyone. As you can imagine, insurance companies would stop doing business with us if we charged their policyholders a higher fee than we do for everyone else.
