What Are Veneers?

Veneers are thin shells that are glued on top of your natural teeth to improve the appearance of your smile. They are often used to alter the colour, shape, size or length of teeth, and can hide gaps that are too big for fillings or dental bonding.

At Chapel Hill Dental most of our veneers are made of a composite resin that matches the colour of your natural teeth, making the veneers indistinguishable from their counterparts. Once hardened, the veneers can be shaped and polished until the desired look is achieved.

Am I A Good Candidate For Veneers?

Your dentist won't recommend veneers on teeth that are decayed or otherwise unhealthy. And because part of the procedure involves your dentist shaving off some of your enamel, an already thin tooth might not be able to receive the preparation it needs in order for a veneer to fit properly.

Patients who are known to grind or clench their teeth might also want to stay away from veneers. While veneers are made to withstand everyday use, excessive wear can lead to chipping or breaking.
